ACLS Prep

The current ACLS Provider and Renewal courses require that participants have a complete understanding of cardiac dysrhythmias and cardiac pharmacology PRIOR to enrolling in an ACLS course. This course will provide an overview of both ECG rhythms as well as medications given during ACLS emergency situations to assist the student in successfully passing ACLS. This prep class is designed for 1st time participants.

Additional study materials will be given out at class. This course is not required by the AHA prior to taking ACLS, but is highly recommended for those that are not very familiar with the pre-requisite ECG and pharmacology information. The ACLS Provider course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS for Healthcare Provider skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This advanced course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. ACLS also covers airway management and related pharmacology. Skills are taught in large-group sessions and small-group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

During the ACLS Prep course, Flex Ed recommends but does not require, that each student have an original copy of the AHA’s ACLS Student textbook. For ACLS Provider and Renewal courses, the most current version of the American Heart Association ACLS Student textbook is a requirement. Printed online or photocopied versions of the student textbook will not be accepted at the course.

Please Note: Students who arrive after the 15 minute grace period will NOT be allowed to attend the course.
Professional attire/scrubs are expected to be worn when attending any Flex Ed course.
