Role of the Charge Nurse
This 4 hour course is intended as an introduction to the role of the charge nurse. The Target Audience is the Registered Nurse assuming the role of Charge Nurse. The course will review the charge RNs role in the overall organizing and planning for unit needs, patient and family interactions, and staff management.
The course objectives include:
1. Discuss the role of the nurse leader in planning the best outcomes for the unit, the staff and other healthcare workers, and the patients/families
2. Describe how to assess patient care needs and match them with staff competence and ability
3. Discuss the basics of conflict 4. Discuss the importance of relationship management skills in interdepartmental communication
This course provides 4 CEs. The course DOES NOT award an AHA certification card.
Please Note: Students who arrive after the 15 minute grace period will NOT be allowed to attend the course.
Professional attire/scrubs are expected to be worn when attending any Flex Ed course.
