Baby Friendly Breastfeeding Basics Skills-Part 2
This is a two-part course. The first portion is a 5-hour online Self-Study module that must be completed prior to attending the 4-hour instructor led skills session. The Self-Study module can be done up to 90 days before the instructor led class and must be done at least 24 hours before the class begins.
This course provides the evidence, knowledge and skills participants need to confidently support, establish and protect early mother-infant attachment and breastfeeding in the hospital setting. It will highlight the personal tools necessary to enhance early parent-infant attachment and help families to listen to and understand the language or the newborn. This material was adapted from the BBLA curriculum and updated to meet the current Baby Friendly, USA guidelines. This course meets competency requirements for 1A (1-5), 2 (11-14), 3 (29), 4 (18-27), 5 (28, 30-34,40,43-44,57 & 65), 6 (29,41,42,47,48,49,666,50,51,52, &67), 7 (35,68,69,36, & 45) 8 (37,38,39,46, & 58) 9 (53.54,55,56,59, & 70), 10 (57, 60,61,62,63, & 64) Elements not covered should be covered within each facility as they pertain to hospital practice, or pre-birth education.
***ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Each class participant should have a baby doll during the skills session.
Please Note: Students who arrive after the 15 minute grace period will NOT be allowed to attend the course. Professional attire/scrubs are expected to be worn when attending any Flex Ed course.
