ACLS Provider - Small Group
Important Notice: This course requires the student to physically demonstrate basic and advance lifesaving skills in both learning and testing stations. Students who are currently injured and/or have a medical condition in which physical activity could result in further harm to their health are asked to first consult with their physician prior to attending this course to confirm that it is safe to participate in the course.
++The Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider course is intended for the first time ACLS provider and builds upon the foundation of lifesaving BLS for Healthcare Provider skills and emphasizes the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This advanced course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. ACLS also covers airway management, arrhythmia identification and management, and related pharmacologic intervention.
Significant precourse preparation is essential to the course success, including proficiency in basic life support, and cardiac rhythm identification. To successfully complete this course, the student must pass a written exam with a score of 84% or higher as well as successfully demonstrate the following physical skills: an adult basic life support skills test, airway management test, and Megacode testing scenario as either a team leader or team member.
As of January 1st, 2021: The American Heart Association (AHA) requires ACLS students to bring a printed copy of their completed 2020 “ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment” certificate of completion containing the following: the student’s full name, AHA 2020 CPR & ECC Guidelines logo, certificate number & date of completion (altered documents will NOT be accepted). The 2020 “ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment” is found at the website: elearning.heart.org/courses
Per the AHA, students who do not present a copy of their printed 2020 “ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment” Certificate at the time of the course will not be admitted into the class.
Mandatory textbook: The AHA’s 2020 Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider Manual is required to participate in this course.
The AHA requires each student to have their own individual, original copy of the AHA’s 2020 ACLS student manual or eBook (eBook must be electronically accessible by the student) on the day of the class. Per the AHA: Book sharing is not allowed and Photocopies of the ACLS student manual or eBook will not be accepted.
Obtaining the textbook beforehand is highly recommended. AHA student provider manuals can be purchased prior to the class at the Flex Ed corporate offices in both Chino, CA and Las Vegas, NV, Mon.-Fri. between 9:00am-4:30pm(excluding holidays). Shipping fees are applied to purchase if a student wishes to have the book shipped to their physical address before the course. Please note: Registration for this course requires the student to have a personal, valid email address. An AHA eCard will be issued to the student via email within 3-5 business days after successful course completion and once all course-related fees have been paid in full.
Please Note: Students who arrive after the 15 minute grace period will NOT be allowed to attend the course. Professional attire/scrubs are expected to be worn when attending any Flex Ed course.
