Class Detail
Charge Nurse - Creating a Culture of Safety
Joint Commission and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) have recognized that safe patient care begins when hospital units have such
extensive teamwork in place that all staff feel safe bringing concerns and ideas to improve care. This advanced class for charge nurses will focus on the role of the nurse leader in creating and developing this atmosphere. This class will build on basic leadership skills and then expand on those ideas to include the leader’s role with improving customer service, continuous survey readiness, and critical events. Additionally, the course will discuss the key roles of the front line leader in development of a "Just Culture" in the unit, including
hourly rounding, debriefing, simulations, and effective communication
and feedback to others.
Please Note: Students who arrive after the 15 minute grace period will NOT be allowed to attend the course.
