Chemotherapy and Biotherapy - ONS
This course is designed specifically for the Registered Nurse working in Oncology. We will utilize material and curriculum published by the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) to verify that participants have the didactic knowledge necessary to practice at the bedside with an experienced chemo RN. Individual facilities are responsible for validating chemo administration competency. Topics covered will include the pathophysiology of cancer, diagnosis, legal & ethical issues and patient teaching. Significant course time will also be spent on common chemotherapeutic agents, administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy, the effect of chemo on body systems and safety measures. Upon completion, participants will receive an ONS Chemotherapy Provider Card valid for 2 years. Other licensed participants including LVNs, Pharmacists and Respiratory Therapists are welcome to attend for information,but are not eligible to receive continuing education units or the Provider Card.
Note: All students must complete the course evaluation through ONS to receive card after successfully completing course. Please visit Http://evaluationcenter.ons.org to obtain your CNE certificate.
